The lift plan I ignored on the Gulf refinery job bit me in the butt
Down in Port Arthur last month, I skipped the engineered lift plan for a 14-foot drum because I was behind schedule. The rigging shifted sideways and we spent 4 hours re-rigging with the crane boom at a weird angle. Anyone else ever cut a corner and instantly regretted it, or is it just me?

Man, that's rough! The real eye-opener for me is that those plans are just as much about protecting the ground crew as they are about the load, nobody thinks about what happens if that drum swings into a scaffold or a fire watch.
