Pro tip: Pressure test your hydro fittings before gunning. Learned the hard way.

I was doing a tube bundle retube at a chemical plant outside Baton Rouge last month. Skipped the pressure test on my new hydraulic fitting because I was rushing. First time I hit the gun, that fitting blew off and sprayed oil everywhere. Cost me 3 hours of cleanup and a new pair of coveralls. Now I always test at 150% working pressure before I start. Anyone else skip a step and pay for it later?

Three hours of cleanup from a single fitting? Man, that's brutal. I'd be livid if I had to scrub oil off my gear for half a shift. You said "outside Baton Rouge" which I'm guessing is that big CF Industries plant or one of the Dow sites down there. Those places are strict about everything. Honestly I'm surprised you didn't get written up for skipping the test, a lot of those chemical plants have cameras everywhere and safety guys who live for catching stuff like that. Sucks you lost the coveralls too, those things are like 80 bucks a pop.

Honestly sounds like overkill to me lol. Half the time I just send it and never had an issue, saves a ton of time on the job.
