Just realized how much a single pinhole leak in a boiler tube can cost a plant in a month. Found it in an old trade magazine from 2018.

Oh man, tell me about it. We lost a feedwater heater to a pinhole once and didn't catch it for two weeks. The efficiency drop was insane, like burning money just to keep pressure. Our fuel cost jumped almost 3% that month, which was a huge number. It's crazy how something you can barely see causes that much damage.

Yikes, @abby308, makes you wonder what else we're missing, right?

Pro tip: throw a thermographic camera on those feedwater heaters quarterly, catches pinholing way before it robs your efficiency. Saved us from that exact 3% fuel burn hit after we set it up.
