Thought I was a Catan shark for 3 years until a 12 year old at a game night in Denver wiped the floor with me
I always set up my first two settlements on the coast for that sweet port access, figured it was a no brainer. Last Friday at a meetup in Denver, this kid maybe 12 years old watched me place and just said 'why are you doing that' like I'd grown a second head. Turns out I'd been ignoring ore hexes almost every game, so I could never upgrade to cities fast enough and always got stuck in second place. He beat me 10 to 6 and I sat there staring at the board like an idiot. Has anyone else had a basic strategy they swore by for ages get wrecked by someone way younger?
