My group's campaign fell apart when the DM's binder got soaked in a coffee shop in Chicago last Saturday

I was refilling my mug at the counter when I heard him yell, and by the time we got napkins on everything, half the map notes and three encounter sheets were unreadable ink blobs.

Respectfully, @anna983 is right Google Drive won't scan anything, and paper backups still beat losing everything to coffee.

I used to bring my entire paper binder to games and thought being digital was overkill, but after hearing about this situation I am totally reconsidering. Like, one coffee spill and you lose months of dungeon maps and NPC stat blocks? That is a nightmare scenario that could literally end a campaign on the spot. Now I am thinking about scanning my notes into Google Drive or something before every session, just in case. It would have saved that Chicago DM a lot of heartache to have digital backups somewhere safe.

A small thing, but Google Drive doesn't actually scan your notes for you.
