Met a guy at a con who had a full spreadsheet of his solo plays

Last month at PAX Unplugged. Dude pulls out a binder. Color coded. 200+ plays logged. He told me he tracks win rate, play time, and which expansion he used. Said it helps him decide what hits the table. I just nod and walk away. Still think about that binder sometimes. Anyone else run into someone with a crazy system for logging plays?

Honestly I admire the binder guy a little. If it helps him get more out of his hobby then more power to him. Not for me but I get why someone would do it.

Wait, do you think that binder was laminated? I feel like a color coded system demands lamination for protection. I actually have a friend who takes this to another level. He got really into a game called Gaia Project and started keeping a journal. Not just wins and losses, but he would write down the first 5 moves of every game. He'd rate his choices and try to spot patterns in what worked. The guy has like 3 notebooks full of this stuff. He says it helped him go from losing every game to actually winning sometimes. I get it, but I also don't get it. Because who has that kind of time? Still, I sort of admire the dedication. Maybe that binder guy is onto something if it helps him enjoy his solo plays more.
