Just realized our group's 'bring any game' nights were a total mess compared to a simple theme
For months, our Tuesday meetup in Lincoln was just 'bring whatever you want'. People showed up with heavy 4-hour games, light party fillers, and everything in between, so we'd spend 45 minutes just picking. Last week, someone said 'let's just do worker placement games only'. We played three different ones back to back, and it was way smoother because everyone was in the same headspace from the start. Has your group tried sticking to a single game type for a whole night?

@noah_chen17 sounds like the kind of person who shows up with a 4-hour wargame and then gets mad when the group decides to play Codenames instead.

Honestly that "same headspace" thing sounds like it could get boring fast. The chaos of a true "bring anything" night is part of the fun, it's like a surprise every time. Sticking to one type of game all night just feels like you're limiting your options for no good reason. Wouldn't you miss the chance to discover something totally new that someone brought on a whim?
