Hot take: our board game group's villain phase broke the whole campaign 5 sessions in
Last Friday we sat down for session 6 of Gloomhaven at my buddy Dev's place in Akron and the villain phase just wrecked us. We had 4 players, 2 of us already exhausted, and the scenario had 3 elite guards spawn every single round because of a card we misread in session 2. I spent 40 minutes flipping through the rulebook while everyone else grabbed snacks and started scrolling their phones. Turns out we had the monster movement rules backwards the whole time, so every fight up to that point was way harder than it should have been. We decided to just restart the whole campaign instead of trying to fix 6 sessions of wrong math. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has had a game night fall apart because of one rule nobody caught for weeks, and how you got the group excited to start over?
