Had a player storm off mid-session over a rules dispute in Gloomhaven last night

We were three hours into a campaign scenario at my buddy's place in Astoria, and this guy Dave insisted his character could loot a chest and still make a move in the same turn, but the rulebook clearly says it costs an action point. He threw his cards down, called the game broken, and walked out the door. How do you handle someone who gets that bent out of shape over a co-op game?

Honestly notice this all the time in everyday life - people get weirdly triggered when they feel like the rules are against them, whether it's board games, traffic laws, or even office policies at work. Tbh it's like some folks just can't handle the world not bending to what they think is fair in that exact moment. Ngl Dave probably overreacted but it's a good reminder that most people's anger isn't really about the thing they're mad at, it's about something deeper they're not saying.

The real issue here might not even be about the game rules. Did anyone check if Dave was having a rough week or something? People don't usually rage quit over a single action point unless something else is going on. Maybe his job is stressful or his girlfriend broke up with him and the game just became the straw that broke the camel's back. Treating it like a board game problem misses the bigger picture of why an adult would act like that in the first place.
