Am I the only one who thinks teaching Catan to new players is harder than teaching Gloomhaven?
I taught Catan to my sister and her husband last Saturday at our place in Akron and it was a disaster. The trading rules made them freeze up, and my brother in law kept asking why he couldn't just build whatever he wanted. Gloomhaven sounds scary with all the cards and pieces, but at least the rules just tell you what to do on your turn. Catan makes people negotiate and read the table, which is way harder for someone who has never played a modern game. Which one do you all think is the real gateway killer for new folks?
