Old timer at the hammer-in told me my hammer face was too convex
I've been forging for about 4 years now and always thought a more rounded face let me move metal smoother. This guy who's been at it since the 70s watched me work for maybe 10 minutes and said 'son, you're mushrooming your strikes and losing control.' I felt pretty dumb but he showed me how to dress it flatter, like just barely a crown. First few hits felt weird but damn if my scrolls aren't cleaner now. Anyone else get told they were doing something totally backwards after years?

Overthinking a hammer face after 4 years sounds like a waste of time.

Overthinking a hammer face after 4 years." Good grief, @angela_allen53, that detail is wild. Four years later and someone is still picking apart a hammer face?
