Had a talk with an old timer at the shop yesterday that changed how I think about heat treating
He said I was rushing my blades and pointed out my quench oil temp was off by 40 degrees because I wasn't letting the forge soak long enough. Anyone else had a seasoned smith call out a bad habit you didn't see coming?

Funny how we rush everything these days, even the things that need patience most.

Ugh seriously. I had to basically train myself to stop and actually let things happen on their own timeline. It's like my default setting is "go go go" and i keep having to override it. Best thing i ever did was set a timer when i'm stuck on something, just sit there for 5 minutes and do nothing. Sounds dumb but actually works.

Wait 5 minutes doing nothing? That actually works? @morgan_butler you're blowing my mind right now.
