Appreciation post: My coal forge clinker issue took me a full weekend to sort

I spent two days just trying to get a clean, even heat because the air flow kept getting blocked. Anyone have a better method for managing clinker in a bottom-blast setup?

That "full weekend" part hits hard. Been there. What really helped me was getting a proper poker and just raking the fire more often, like every 20 minutes. I also started using a bit less air unless I really need the heat spike. It keeps the clinker from fusing into one big chunk so you can pull it out in smaller pieces. Saves a ton of time on the back end.

Oh man, I feel that. Honestly, my first time dealing with clinker, I spent so long poking at it I'm pretty sure my neighbors thought I was trying to dig to China.
