Showerthought: Binge watching The Office on repeat for 6 months straight

I crashed at a friend's place in Austin last weekend and her TV was stuck on The Office. She said she's been cycling through all 9 seasons on repeat for 6 months now. That's like 200 hours of content over and over. I asked her if she ever gets bored and she said no, it's just background noise now. How many times can a person rewatch the same show before it loses all meaning? Has anybody else fallen into that loop with a specific series?

My buddy has been watching Trailer Park Boys on loop for like 3 years now. He says it's just comfortable noise at this point, like a weighted blanket for his brain. I tried to watch one episode with him and he could recite every single line before the characters said it. Kinda creepy honestly.

That sounds like full on engagement, not just noise. It's more like a security blanket or a ritual. When you know a show that well, it's not really about watching anymore. It's like hanging out with old friends you've known forever.
