Shoutout to my friend who finally got me hooked on British panel shows
Used to skip through YouTube clips of Mock the Week in 5 minute chunks, but after a 4 hour binge of Taskmaster last Saturday I finally get why people obsess over the full episodes instead of the highlights.

and then you realize the highlights are just the worst part of the show honestly. the gaps between jokes, the silence while someone thinks of something stupid, the way they all groan at each other - that's where the real comedy lives. Taskmaster seasons 5 and 7 are the peak if you want to skip the early growing pains, but don't miss season 2 either since that's where the format really clicked for everyone. if you ever need a break from Taskmaster, try Would I Lie To You next, just skip the first season and start with the David Mitchell years.

My buddy put me onto season 2 first and that was the hook I needed. The early seasons have some awkward bits but once they figured out the scoring and banter it really clicked for me around season 4. I actually started Would I Lie To You from the beginning and wish I had skipped to the David Mitchell years like you said. The panel shows where people are just reacting to each other beats any perfectly edited comedy special any day.
