My wife gave me the choice between a new crime drama or rewatching 'The Wire' for the third time, and I picked the rewatch.

After the first episode, I realized I was catching dialogue and character glances I'd completely missed before, which makes me wonder what other shows are actually better the second time around.

The real rewatch gold is in shows that were a mess the first time. "Lost" is the big one. First time through you're just mad about the polar bear. Second time, you see all the character stuff they were building under the weird smoke monster nonsense. You stop waiting for answers and just watch people fall apart.

Totally, the character drama was always the real show.

My older brother was the one who got me to watch Lost the first time, and I spent the whole thing being annoyed that nothing got explained. I actually told him the show was a waste of time and that the writers were just making stuff up as they went along. Then a few years back I was stuck at home with the flu and decided to give it another shot just for background noise. And yeah, you hit it right on the head. Once I stopped caring about the polar bear and the island moving through time, I noticed all these small character moments between Jack and Locke that I had totally missed before. It changed my whole opinion on the show, honestly.
