I used to skip the recaps on 'The Bear' and totally missed the point

For the first season, I always hit skip on the 90-second 'Previously On' intros, thinking they were just filler. My friend in Chicago, who's a chef, told me to actually watch them because they often show quick flashes of key emotional moments you need to feel the pressure in the next episode. I tried it for season 2, and it completely changed how I saw the characters' stress, especially in the 'Fishes' holiday episode. Does anyone else have a show where a small viewing habit made a big difference?

Honestly, the whole "key emotional moments" thing sounds like a stretch. If a show needs a recap to make you feel the pressure, maybe the actual episode isn't doing its job right. I skip them every time and never feel lost. It's just repeating stuff you already saw.

Look, it's not that deep. They're just trying to help people who maybe watched the last episode a week ago and forgot a detail. It's not some big artistic failure. Most of the time I skip them too, but getting mad about them being there feels like looking for something to complain about. It's thirty seconds of your life, and some people actually use them.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. I skip most of them too, honestly. But there's this one show I watch where the recap is just the main character sitting quietly, and it actually sets a mood the cold open doesn't. Makes me feel like I'm remembering it with them, which is kind of the point. Still, nine times out of ten it's just filler and I'm mashing the skip button.
