Got into a debate about subtitles vs dubbing at a friend's movie night

So last Friday, my buddy Mark put on a Korean drama and half of us wanted subtitles and the other half wanted the English dub. I argued subtitles keep the original acting and emotion, but my friend Sarah said she can't enjoy the show if she's reading the whole time and missing visuals. It totally split the room and now I'm wondering if there's a right way to watch foreign stuff. Which side do you fall on or do you switch based on the show?

Does Sarah ever watch anything with subtitles at home when no one's around?

Not gonna lie, I've had to sneak subtitles on during action movies just to catch the dialogue - modern sound mixing is brutal, might be a similar thing for her.
