Finally binged The Bear season 2 vs season 1

Season 1 was just stress. Nonstop yelling and chaos. Season 2 slowed way down. Let you breathe. Actually cared about the side characters. Richie's episode alone made it worth it. Anyone else think season 2 is way better or am I missing something?

...and then people act like this show is some kind of deep meditation on the human condition. It's a show about a sandwich shop. Season 2 was fine, Richie's episode was alright, but the whole "let's explore everyone's trauma" thing felt a little forced. Like, calm down, it's a kitchen, not a therapy session. I get why people like it more, but I don't know if it's way better or just different.

Man look I get what you're saying but I think that's kind of the point. A sandwich shop in real life is just a sandwich shop. But the show's not really about the sandwiches. It's about people who are drowning and use work as a life raft. Richie's episode hit hard because he's been a loud jerk for two seasons and you finally see why. Same with Sydney and her perfectionism stuff. It's not forced if you've ever worked in a place where everyone's barely holding it together. The kitchen is just the backdrop for the real mess.
