Binged every episode of a show in 2 days because of one trick I tried

I used to lose interest by episode 3 of almost anything, so last month I tried watching with subtitles ON even though I can hear fine. For some reason it locked my attention way harder and I finished the entire 10 episode season of The Bear in 48 hours. Has anyone else tried subtitles as a binge hack, or is it just a weird me thing?

Honestly I thought subtitles were pointless before but now I can't watch anything without them, what else changed for you?
