Binged all of Dark in 3 days, now every other show feels too simple?
After finishing Dark's 3 seasons during a power outage last winter, I can't sit through basic crime procedurals anymore, but is dense time travel actually better or just harder to follow, has anyone else hit this wall and found a show that scratches the same itch?
Watching dense time travel isn't really harder, it's just more work and that work is the whole point. Dark gives you cheat sheets basically, the family tree, the website, the recaps, because the show wants you to keep up, it just refuses to slow down for you. A crime procedural tells you who did it in 42 minutes and resets next week, which is a totally different deal. The headache you're feeling is your brain being asked to hold three timelines in your head at once, and that feels good after a while. I'd say try something with a puzzle but less math, like The Leftovers or Severance, so you get the same buzz without needing a whiteboard.
