Tried to fix a leaky faucet myself and flooded my kitchen for 3 hours

I thought I could save $150 by swapping a cartridge on a Delta faucet last weekend, but I forgot to shut off the main water valve and ended up with water spraying everywhere while I panicked and called my neighbor to help me find the shutoff, has anyone else made this kind of plumbing mistake?

I feel you, did the same thing with a toilet fill valve last year. Let the water run out slow first next time.

Right? It's one of those things you just have to learn the hard way. @adam_hernandez dropping that slow drain advice is gold, I wish I had that tip before I made a mess in my own bathroom. Standing in a puddle of rusty water at 10pm really makes you question your life choices. At least we both got it sorted eventually, and now we know for next time.
