The week my fridge died and I lost $300 worth of groceries

I came home from a 5 day trip to find my fridge had been running warm, everything from milk to leftover chili was spoiled. The smell was so bad I had to take the whole thing apart and scrub it with bleach for 3 hours. Has anyone else had a fridge just give up on them like that?

bro have you checked the coils on the back of your fridge? mine died the same way last summer when i came back from a week at the beach. i was so mad i almost threw the whole thing out but then my buddy told me to clean the dust off the coils and see if the fan was clogged. turns out the condenser fan was just caked with dog hair and it was overheating. i vacuumed everything out and it kicked right back on after i let it sit unplugged for an hour. that saved me the $300 i was about to drop on a new fridge. def check that before you toss it.

Had the same mindset @evan_jenkins until I tried cleaning the coils and it actually worked.
