Spent $400 on a fancy espresso machine before realizing I just hate the taste of coffee
Bought a Gaggia Classic Pro last January after everyone raved about how much better home espresso is. Made 6 drinks total before I admitted to myself I'd rather drink hot chocolate. Machine's been collecting dust in my pantry since March. Anyone else impulse buy expensive gear for a hobby you never actually liked?

Admitted to myself I'd rather drink hot chocolate" is wild lmao. I mean $400 is a decent chunk of change but it's not like you bought a commercial La Marzocco or something, you know? Honestly just list it on Facebook Marketplace for $300 and move on, not every hobby has to be a lifelong passion lol.

Why's it gotta be all or nothing though? Some people buy a thing, try it for a bit, and realize it's just not their deal. Nothing wrong with that. It's not about "lifelong passion," it's about $400 being a real amount of money to sit on a counter gathering dust. Hot chocolate's way cheaper and easier, so if that's what the dude actually enjoys, more power to him. Not every misstep in spending needs to be a whole marketplace listing saga either. Sometimes you just eat the loss and move on.
