My neighbor in Tucson caught me talking to his cat for 20 minutes

He came around the hedge and said 'she doesn't even like you, she just does that for the treats you keep dropping' while I was mid-conversation about my broken garden hose, so has anyone else gotten caught having a full chat with an animal that clearly isn't listening?

Wait, have you considered that the cat might actually be listening, just not in the way we think? Cats are way more perceptive than people give them credit for, and just because she's in it for the treats doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy the company too. I get that your neighbor thinks it's silly, but that cat chooses to hang around your yard, and that's basically her way of saying she's cool with you. Honestly, talking to animals is way more normal than pretending we're the only ones who deserve a good conversation about broken hoses. Your neighbor probably just wishes his cat liked him enough to fake interest too, lol.
