I lost 47 straight games of online checkers to a stranger named BigDave, and honestly I earned every one
I got really into online checkers back in March because I needed something to do on my phone that wasn't scrolling. Found this app with a ranking system and thought I'd climb fast since I played a ton as a kid at my grandma's kitchen table in Ohio. BigDave was sitting at rank 12 and I was rank 900 something, so I figured it'd be a quick win, except I lost the first game in 9 moves. Then I lost the next 46 games over about two weeks because I kept rematching him out of pure stubbornness at 1 in the morning. The sad part is I started taking screenshots of the losses like they were game film for a playoff run, and BigDave messaged me once just to say "you're getting worse." Anyway I finally beat him on game 48 using a dumb trap I saw in a YouTube video, and I have never felt more like a champion of nothing. Did anyone else get weirdly obsessed with some random phone game during a slow stretch and lose their mind over it?
