Critiqued my bathing technique after 3 matted poodles, swap sides?

Got told by a client that my prep work left tangles near the ears, which I thought I'd brushed out fine. She showed me the matts herself and I had to admit she was right, so I switched to a different comb and slower sectioning. But now I'm wondering if her dog was just extra sensitive since he hates the table, or if my old method really was that bad. Anyone else get feedback that flipped your whole process, and how did you decide if the critic was worth listening to?

Ugh, the ears are always the sneaky spot! Honestly, if the client showed you the actual mats, I'd switch things up too. Trust your gut, but that proof is hard to argue with.
