Bought a $300 espresso machine, then spilled hot water on my lap the first morning
I got this fancy Breville on sale last month after watching too many YouTube videos. First use, I was half asleep and pulled the portafilter without locking it in, hot water went everywhere including my jeans. The machine itself is fine, but I had to spend $60 on new pants and some aloe gel for the burn. My coffee addiction is real, but have any of you had a near-miss with hot equipment in the morning that made you rethink your setup?

Learned the hard way that mornings and hot machines don't mix. I used to just grab stuff from the counter without thinking, figured it was all sturdy enough to survive my zombie mode. Then one day I knocked over my French press while reaching for a mug, glass shattered and coffee went everywhere, including my bare feet. That was the moment I started putting my gear on a tray and keeping a towel close by. Still drink the stuff daily, but now I treat the setup like a small campfire, you respect it or it bites back.
