Am I the only one who beat the DMV line with a $3 library book and a folding chair
I got to the Oakland DMV on Broadway at 6:40am and there were already 30 people ahead of me. A guy near the front said he'd been there since 4am and still didn't have a number. I had a folding chair and a paperback in my trunk from a beach trip two summers ago, so I just sat down and read for 90 minutes instead of standing there getting mad. Turns out the real trick is that the line only moves fast after 8, so the people who showed up at 5am waited way longer than me for the same spot. I got called at 8:20 and was out by 9:05 with my license renewed. The lady at window 7 said the earliest crowd is almost always the slowest to clear. Anyone else find a dumb little hack that made a terrible errand almost pleasant?
