Tried the $15 chain checker, still trust my ruler more
Honestly, I spent last weekend building up a used road bike and compared my Park Tool CC-3.2 against a simple 12-inch steel ruler to measure chain wear. The gauge said the chain was fine, but the ruler showed 1/16 inch of stretch over 12 links, which is past the replacement point. Ngl, that ruler trick from the old shop manual in Portland saved me from swapping a cassette that would've skipped on the next climb. Anyone else rely on the ruler method over the click-style tools for worn chains?
