Swapped to wax-based lube after a gritty chain ruined my Saturday ride

I was out on the Katy Trail last month, about 15 miles from the car, and my chain started making this grinding noise (like sand in a blender). Got home, cleaned it, and saw all this black gunk caked between the rollers - my wet lube just attracted every speck of dirt on the trail. A buddy at the shop said to try wax lube, so I degreased the whole drivetrain and applied it. First few rides felt weird (kinda dry at first), but after 100 miles my chain is still clean and shifting smooth. Anyone else deal with that initial break-in where the wax flakes off everywhere before it settles?

Did you notice little white flakes all over your pants after the first ride? Mine looked like I'd been rolling in dandruff... but yeah, after a few dozen miles it finally settled down and stopped shedding everywhere.

Made my chain look like a snow globe exploded on the living room rug.
