Had a customer's vintage Campagnolo derailleur snap its main pivot bolt mid-shift yesterday
It was on a 1970s Colnago I was tuning up in the shop. The bolt just sheared clean, no warning. I had to call a buddy with a parts hoard to find a replacement that would fit the old threading. Anyone else run into old Italian parts failing like that?

That sheared bolt, was it steel or aluminum?

Had a grade 8.8 steel bolt snap on my old truck's exhaust manifold last winter. The core was so corroded it looked like swiss cheese. Definitely steel, but cheap steel that couldn't handle the heat cycles.
