Dropped $180 on a Park Tool wheel truing stand and it paid for itself in 3 weeks
I was truing wheels in the frame with zip ties as guides for years and finally got fed up after a nasty wobble on a customer's rear wheel cost me 2 hours. The stand made the job so much faster that I started charging $25 a wheel and cleared the cost in 3 weeks flat. Any of you still truing in the frame or did you make the switch too?
Same deal here, zip ties in the frame for way too long and I kicked myself for not buying a stand sooner. The speed jump is real, what used to take me half an hour now takes ten minutes and the wheel is actually straight when I'm done. Charging for trues is the part nobody talks about, once you can do it fast it turns into easy money.
