Customer in Bend watched me adjust a rear derailleur and said I was chasing the cable instead of the hanger
I had been fighting a ghost shifting problem for about 20 minutes when he pointed at the derailleur hanger and said to check alignment first. Bought a $70 alignment gauge that week and now I check the hanger before I touch a barrel adjuster on any tune-up. How many of you keep a hanger gauge on the bench versus just eyeballing it?
