Can we talk about the pile of dead inner tubes behind every shop?
It's crazy to me that we fix flats all day but just chuck the busted tubes without a second thought. That rubber sits in landfills for ages when it could be patched, reused, or even turned into other stuff. How hard would it be to start a local tube recycling program instead?

I read about a bike shop in Portland that collects them and sends them off to get turned into new products, which is pretty cool lol. Seems like a simple idea more places could copy.

My friend Jake in Austin told me about a similar program at his local bike shop. They collected old inner tubes and sent them off to be turned into wallets and bags. He said the shop had a bin right by the door, so it was super easy to drop stuff off. Why don't more places make it that simple for people to recycle? It really feels like a no-brainer when you hear about it working in different cities.
