Called BS on grease injection until I saw 30 seized bearings
For 2 years I told customers that greasing sealed bearings was a waste of time since the grease can't reach the internals. Then I cracked open a hub that had been serviced with a needle attachment and found the old grease had actually been pushed out and replaced with fresh stuff. Has anyone else seen real proof that this method works or are we all just creating extra dust seals for nothing?

Used to be in the same boat honestly, thought needle greasing was just a gimmick to sell more tools. Then a buddy showed me a cutaway of a sealed bearing he'd been pumping with a needle for a couple seasons, and the old grease was clearly pushed out with fresh stuff right up against the balls. Still not totally sold on it for every application, but it definitely works better than I gave it credit for (especially on those high-end boat trailer hubs).

Pushed out fresh stuff right up against the balls." That's what she said. Sorry @graceprice, had to.
But yeah, needle greasing is like using a straw to drink a milkshake that's half frozen. It works, but you're still gonna have chunks.
