Showerthought: Did you know the original Green Egg was basically a failed flower pot design?
I was reading an old issue of Smoke & Fire magazine my uncle passed down (from like 2002 I think) and there was this whole article about how the Big Green Egg started out as a clay pot for plants. Some guy in Texas just threw some meat in one and figured out it worked for cooking. Blew my mind because I always thought it was designed for BBQ from the start. Anyone else stumble on weird origin stories like that?

My dad actually had one of those original ugly brown flower pots before they rebranded them.

That "ugly brown flower pot" line got me, @luna_kim40. My grandma had one of those things too and she used it as a doorstop for like 20 years. I always thought it looked like a failed science experiment from the 70s. Then they rebranded and suddenly everyone wanted one. I guess I'm just jealous because my only vintage decor is a lava lamp that stopped working in 1998.
