Guy at the gas station tried to tell me burnt ends are just scraps

Stopped for coffee in Denton, Texas and overheard this dude lecturing his buddy that brisket points are only good for dog food. I told him about my 14 hour cook on my offset smoker last Sunday, where the point turned into butter after I wrapped it in butcher paper at 165. He said I wasted my time, then asked if I wanted to buy his $20 propane smoker. Has anyone else run into folks who swear by gas grills and trash talk real pit masters?

Wait, he really tried to sell you a propane smoker after telling you your 14 hour cook was a waste? That's like telling someone their steak is trash and then offering them a microwave dinner. The point turning into butter is the whole magic of BBQ, and anyone who thinks that's scraps has clearly never tasted a proper burnt end.
