Warning: That $300 clipper sharpening kit was a total waste

I dropped 300 bucks on a sharpening kit last month because my blades kept pulling, figured I'd save money in the long run... turns out I ruined two good Wahl blades trying to use it. The angle guide was off and now I'm stuck sending everything out again anyway. Has anyone else had better luck with a specific sharpening service, or should I just stick to replacing blades every 6 months?

Three hundred bucks and a ruined pair of blades later, I’m pretty sure that kit came with a secret instruction to just make you feel dumb. My angle guide was off by like four degrees and I didn’t notice until I saw shiny metal shavings where my dog’s fur should’ve been. I sent them off to a guy in Ohio who fixed them for thirty bucks, but honestly, the shipping alone took a week and I had to borrow clippers from my neighbor. Now I just buy new blades on sale twice a year and call it a hobby tax. Maybe the real sharpening lesson was that my hands and a cheap whetstone don’t mix, but I’m too stubborn to admit that yet.
