Warning: I raised my cut price $8 and lost 4 regulars, so do I hold the line or roll it back?
I run a two chair spot in Boise and bumped my cut from $32 to $40 back in March because my clipper blades and barbicide costs kept creeping up. Three weeks in, four guys who sat in my chair for over a year stopped coming, and one of them straight up told me his old barber was still charging $30. The other side of me says I'm still cheaper than the chain down the street and the guys who stayed tip better now. Did you eat the loss on regulars when you raised prices, or did you find a way to keep them without dropping back down?
