Vent: I kept getting uneven fades on the left side of my chair
For about six months, my fades were always a bit off on the left side, especially with clients who sat a certain way. I tried adjusting my mirror setup and even bought a new pair of Wahl clippers, but the problem was me. I realized I was standing too far forward, blocking my own light from the window. Now I take one full step back before I start the fade line, and the lighting is perfect. Anyone else have a simple stance fix that solved a big problem?

Actually, it was your own shadow.

Man I heard a barber on a podcast say the same thing - he was fighting his own shadow for years before a client pointed it out. It's wild how something that simple can mess with your work for months. Glad you figured it out before you went crazy.

That shadow trick is a game changer. I bet a lot of barbers are fighting their own silhouette without even knowing it.
