The day I spent 3 hours fixing a clipper blade that just needed a drop of oil

I was working on a full head of thick curly hair last Tuesday and my Andis Master started pulling like crazy halfway through. I figured the blade was dull so I swapped it out, but the new one did the same thing. I spent the next 3 hours taking the clipper apart, cleaning out every nook and cranny, adjusting the tension screw, even ordering a replacement blade online. Finally on a hunch I put one tiny drop of lightweight clipper oil on the pivot point, not just the blades, and it ran smooth as butter. That whole time I could have just lubed it properly and been done in 10 seconds. Has anyone else had a simple fix like that eat up half their day before they figured it out?

Man, that "tiny drop on the pivot point" part really hit home. I have an old Wahl clipper that I nearly threw in the trash last year because it sounded like a lawnmower. I did everything you did - took it apart, cleaned it, adjusted screws, the whole nine yards. Three hours later I was about to order a new one when I remembered a barber once told me that 90% of clipper problems are just lubrication issues. Sure enough, a single drop of oil on the pivot and the dang thing purred like a kitten. Now I just make it a habit to oil the pivot point every time I clean the blades, takes like five seconds. Your mileage may vary but I swear by that trick now, saves me from going down that rabbit hole again.

See I gotta respectfully disagree with you here. My clipper sounded like a dying lawnmower and I oiled that pivot point like crazy, even tried three different kinds of oil. Still sounded like crap until I found out the blade drive cam was actually cracked. Sometimes its not just a lube issue, sometimes you got a busted part. I wasted months thinking I was just bad at oiling it. That pivot trick works for a lot of people though, just not a universal fix.

@jessica_miller nailed it - pivot oil is a total game changer nobody talks about.
