That time I screwed up a fade in the middle of a Saturday rush
I was working on a client in downtown Austin last month and my clipper blade started pulling hard halfway through his fade. Turned out I forgot to oil it after cleaning the night before and the hair was caked in the hinge. Has anyone else had a blade lock up on them right when a packed shop is watching?

Oh man, I've been there and it is the absolute worst. My blade jammed up mid-fade on a guy who was literally showing his buddy a video of some perfect blend he wanted. I just stood there, clipper in hand, making that awful grinding noise while the whole shop turned to look. The client asked if everything was okay and I just laughed and said "we're fine, just giving it a little love tap." Ended up having to finish with my trimmers and a straight razor, which took forever and looked like a five year old did it. I still cringe thinking about that Saturday.

@holly_green82 man that story hits close to home. Same thing happened to me last month with a brand new set of clippers. What saved me was keeping a spare blade kit in my drawer and learning how to swap it out in under two minutes. You can buy the whole blade replacement kit online for like fifteen bucks and it's a game changer. Also, always do a quick test buzz on some comb hair before the client sits down. That minute check can save you from the whole "grinding noise of doom" situation.
