Switched from clipper-over-comb to shears for men's longer hair and it's a game changer
I used to do everything with clippers even on guys with 3-4 inch top hair. Finally took a class from an old barber in Dallas last June and he showed me how to use shears for weight lines and texture. Whole process feels smoother and I get way fewer callbacks from guys complaining about choppy layers. Has anyone else made a similar switch or do you still prefer clippers for most of the work?

Thing is clippers can still be better for some guys with really thick hair since shears take way longer to get through it. Maybe it's just me but I keep clippers handy for the bulk removal then switch to shears for the finish.

So does the clipper work actually look okay once you blend it out with shears, or do you end up with this weird contrast between the rough cut underneath and the finer stuff on top? I've never tried mixing them that way cause I always figured the texture difference would show. Also, how long does that whole process take compared to just fighting through it with shears the whole time?
