Straight razor shaves used to scare me, now it's all I do for beard lines

I started cutting hair back in 2016 and always cheated with a trimmer for the edges. A client last fall asked me why his line looked so harsh, and honestly I had no answer. So I took a weekend class down in Austin and practiced on like 10 guys with a shave ready razor. Now I do the razor finish on every beard fade I cut, it takes about 4 extra minutes but the skin looks so much cleaner. Any other barbers here make the switch later in their career, or is it just me? Does the razor work better for you on certain hair types, or do you stick to clippers for everyone?

I saw a barber on YouTube say razors only work good on thick beards, not patchy ones.
