Spent a whole Saturday morning trying to dial in a zero-gap on my Oster 76s before I found a tiny hair stuck under the blade screw

Took me nearly 5 hours just to realize it was some dried up hair from the last cut I did on Friday, has anyone else had a dumb little detail like that eat up their whole day?

Wait, isn't checking for debris just basic common sense before you start?

Basic common sense" is exactly right. You'd think everyone would glance around before firing something up. I once skipped a quick check and ended up with a screwdriver stuck in my engine block because I didn't clear my workbench first. Never making that mistake again!

Whoa, I think the real issue is that we get too comfortable and our brains go on autopilot. It's not about not knowing to check, it's that muscle memory kicks in and we skip the mental step. Have you noticed that happens more on routine projects than new ones?
