Our city council is debating a rule for barber shop music volume. I'm torn.

On one hand, loud music can annoy neighbors, but on the other, it sets the vibe for clients. I heard they might cap it at 85 decibels. What's your take?

Who decides what's too loud for a barber shop? Music is key for the vibe. A good haircut needs good beats. 85 decibels might not even cover the clippers. Neighbors can close their windows. This rule goes too far.

Last week, I saw a local news segment about a barber shop in Phoenix getting noise complaints for playing music at 88 decibels. The city checked from the sidewalk and said it was too loud even in the daytime. Thing is, clippers can hit 80 decibels on their own... so adding beats does push it over. But neighbors complained they couldn't hear their TV with windows closed.

My neighbor blasts polka music every Saturday morning. It's cheerful but after a few weeks, you start to dread weekends. Makes me see both sides of the noise debate.
