I was holding my clippers wrong for the first five years
I was at a barber battle in Atlanta and watched a guy named Marco do a skin fade. He held his clippers with his thumb on the side, not the top, for way more control. I went home and practiced on a mannequin head for a week, and my lines got so much cleaner. How many of you had a basic technique you were doing wrong for way too long?

Found out I'd been holding a pencil wrong my whole life until last year.

Wait but there's no actual "wrong" way to hold a pencil though. The only thing that matters is if it works for you and doesn't cause pain. I had a teacher try to force the "tripod" grip on me and it just made my handwriting worse. If you can write clearly and comfortably, that's the right way.

Can you believe how many teachers push that one grip like it's a law? I had the same thing happen and my hand would cramp up after two sentences. It's like they forget we're all built a little different.
