I stopped soaking my combs in barbicide and my tools last way longer

Read a thread on a barber forum last week where a guy said barbicide eats away at the plastic on clipper guards over time. I've been soaking mine every single night for like 2 years and I always wondered why I had to replace guards every 3 months. Switched to just spraying them with a disinfectant spray after each cut and letting them air dry. Has anyone else noticed their tools getting brittle from too much soaking?

Destroying my own tools" lol that reminds me of a video I watched where a guy kept sharpening his chisels wrong and basically made them useless. But yeah @emerycarr its totally possible if you're using the wrong technique or the wrong tool for the job. I read somewhere that a lot of people wreck their stuff without even knowing it just because theyre in a hurry.
