Hit my 10,000th haircut yesterday and it felt strange
I kept a rough count in my appointment book for the last 14 years, and yesterday I crossed 10,000 cuts. That number includes everything from kids' first trims to wedding-day fades, but it wasn't the total that surprised me. It was that my 10,000th client was a regular guy who just wanted the same simple side part I've done for him since 2019. I thought hitting a milestone like that would feel bigger, maybe like a celebration, but it just felt like another Tuesday with someone I know. What did matter was looking back at how many repeat customers make up that number, probably 80 percent of it. It made me wonder if other barbers track their counts, and if so, did any particular milestone hit you harder than you expected?
